My latest post for Research2Reality all about the amazing (and unexpected!) science of snowflakes and icicles.
Month: December 2016
It really is the thought that counts
I explore the science of gift-giving in this week’s Research2Reality post.
Featured in U of T’s IMS Magazine
I describe the odd observation that led to a major discovery in my PhD for the University of Toronto’s IMS Magazine (pg 10). In research, discoveries often happen by chance, you just have to be prepared to notice and question them. I think Winston Churchill described this perfectly:
“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.”
Every damn swan: a note on the scientific hypothesis
I got into some semantics on the CCRM Signal’s blog today. Enjoy!
